SCOTT NASON

Scott previously coached  the U13 and U14 girls for Velocity.  Scott was the varsity girls'  soccer coach at Thornton Academy for 10 years, during which he was the  Southern Maine Activities Association's Coach of the Year three  times.  Scott holds his NSCAA National Diploma and his USSF National  "D" license.  In addition to being part of the Velocity Soccer Club, Scott is also the President of the Saco Soccer Club.
COACHES
MIKE LANE

Mike graduated from Bonny Eagle High School and The University of Maine at Farmington where he captained both teams.  During his junior year at Farmington, the “Beavers”, ranked 8th in the nation, made a National Tournament appearance going 1-1 losing to the number one ranked team in the country 2-1.  He and his teammates were inducted into the UMF Hall of Fame for their efforts.  Mike was the director of youth soccer for 15 years in the Sacopee Valley area and coached at a number of soccer camps around the state of Maine.
He moved into the high school coaching ranks after graduating college and coached varsity boys for 20 years making the state tournament 17 times.  His teams enjoyed a Maine State Title, two Western Maine Final appearances, and had many All-State and All-Conference players.
For the past seven years he has coached U-10 through U-17 girls for Velocity and Seacoast Soccer Clubs making a number of State Cup Final appearances as well as one Region 1 Final appearance.  He most recently assisted his daughter’s high school team as they captured their first state title in school history.  Mike holds a National “D” USSF license, Regional NSCAA Diploma, as well as his Coaching Certificate from UMF.

COACH SCOTT NASON AWARDED "PREMIER COACH OF THE YEAR" BY SOCCER MAINE

Scott Nason, coach of the Velocity U13 Girls team, was recently honored by Soccer Maine as the 2011 Premier Coach of the Year.  This award recognizes "those who have demonstrated exemplary efforts in the coaching of youth...offering quality instruction, promoting good sportsmanship and contributing to our communities as a positive role model representing Soccer Maine."

The Velocity 2010 U12 Girls Team was also recognized during Soccer Maine's Annual General Meeting for their accomplishments at the 2010 US Youth Soccer Region I Championships in Barboursville, West Virginia. 
2011 NEFC PRESEASON TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONS!

Congratulations to the Velocity Girls U13 team for winning the NEFC Championship Premier Bracket in March.  The girls topped the FC Stars 97-98, MPS Lady Crusaders, and Darby FC Brazil to take first place in their bracket at the annual competition. 


2011 MAINE  STATE CUP CHAMPIONS!

Congratulations to the Velocity U13 Girls for winning the Maine State Cup Championship for the second consecutive year!  The team edged out FSC Riptide, 1-0 in overtime.  They then went on to compete in the US Youth Soccer Region 1 Championships in Lancaster, Pennsylvania in July.
