COACHES
DARREN BOYNTON

Darren is the President of Velocity Soccer Club and has been involed with the club in many capacities since its inception in 1999. He is currently the U-16 boys coach and has been with this group of young men since they were 12 years old, taking them to one state cup final as U-14's.   Darren holds a USSF National "D" license, NSCAA National diploma, and NSCAA Advanced National dipolma, along with his State Goalkeeping diploma.  Darren was selected as the girl's youth coach of the year in 2001 by Soccer Maine while coaching for the Saco Soccer Club.  He also served as Maine ODP assistant coach for the 1992 girls and as head coach for 2 years for the 1994 girls.  Previously, Darren was a sub varsity girls coach at Thornton Academy from 2006-2009 and is currently the varstiy coach for the girls at Biddeford high school.
He also served on the Soccer Maine board of directors for 5 years from 2005-2009.   
TARA MOORE

Tara has a USSF class "E" coaching license. She played premier soccer for 5 years, first for MCU then her last 4 years for Velocity. Tara was the captain of her Velocity team for all 4 years she played for the club. Additionally, she served as the captain of the Deering High School freshman team and went on to captain the varsity squad her senior year. Tara was the leading goal scorer/total points on her freshman team and her junior year and she was awarded the Deering Ram award her senior year. She also was a member of the Maine ODP team as a U15 and U-16.  As a college freshman Tara played defense for Simmons College, where she started all 19 games. She transferred to the University of Southern Maine for her sophomore year, but was too late to be eligible to play in 2008. Tara finished her second season with the Huskies this past fall and is studying at USM to be an Athletic Trainer.
JESSICA BOYNTON

Jess played all four year of high school soccer at Thornton Academy. She played varsity starting her sophomore year. In 2007 Jess made the SMAA first team all conference as well as the Journal Tribune All Star Team. Jess played for the Velocity club from 2003-2006. In 2007 she played for Coastal Soccer Club, now Seacoast. While playing for Coastal, Jess won a state championship title. She also played ODP for 3 years starting in 2005. Jess now plays for Saint Joseph’s College of Maine - in 2009 she played in 19 games and in 2010 played in only 15 games (due to concussion towards the middle of the season). At Saint Joe’s, Jess is majoring in Exercise Science in hopes to use that degree to be a strength and conditioning coach, personal trainer, nutritionist and as well as continuing coaching soccer. Jess received her “E” license in 2009 and now has been coaching with Velocity for 3 years assisting what is now the U13 girl’s team. Jess has been involved with the club since it started in 1999 when she was a spectator for her brother - a player then, and now a coach.
